Thank you for your support!
Global Peace Exchange (GPE) is a student-led organization at Florida State University which partners with non-profits abroad to coordinate sustainable community development projects throughout the world. Since 2006, this grassroots initiative has empowered over 100 students to plan, fundraise for, execute, and evaluate service in seven different countries, providing them with intercultural experience and new perspectives they may otherwise not have been able to achieve, due to the high cost of travel aboard along with a university education. Rather than just a donor-recipient relationship, volunteers hope to foster lasting partnerships based off of mutual compassion and understanding. The GPE Nepal project is partnered with Clinic Nepal, located within the Chitwan District of southern Nepal.
This year GPE will be developing the third annual Nepal project, partnering with Clinic Nepal to assist in the expansion and sustainability of the Wolfgang Linke Kindergarten and Friendship Scout Troop in Meghauli and the Asha Kokiran Kindergarten and Children's Hostel in Daldale, Chitwan. We will also be continuing to teach English to the adult community, support the local health care operations, provide reusable bags, and build trash bins. We believe in youth and female empowerment, environmental sustainability, and healthcare and education access for all beneficiaries of our project. We will be implementing a summer school with weekly topics on leadership and respect, health and hygiene, environment and sustainability, and art and music. We will be combining lessons with team-building activities and games inspired by challenge course material to create a well-rounded experience. We have also invited volunteer doctors from the Friendship Clinic to teach lessons on water-borne diseases, dental care, and the importance of hand-washing. Additionally, CPR lessons will be provided for the benefit of Meghauli. In an effort to reduce waste around Meghauli, GPE will be donating 2,000 reusable cloth bags that will go hand-in-hand with lessons on sustainability and the existing monthly scout trash clean-up project. Most importantly, this summer school is open to all young people in Meghauli, and is not limited to sponsored, government or private students. GPE volunteers will also be assisting in the instruction and improvement of the Wolfgang Linke Kindergarten through providing innovative teaching material and training. GPE will be providing minor additions to facilities as we continue to conduct research and understand the needs of the community. GPE will be implementing another intensive English workshop for older members of the community, including teachers, business owners, artists, and more, with lessons specific to the needs of their trade. Last, GPE is supporting the healthcare efforts of Clinic Nepal to rural Nepali villagers. In an area where many people may never see a doctor in their lifetime, Clinic Nepal is opening healthcare access to thousands of villagers of all ages and healthcare needs. All of our efforts are made possible through the support of Florida State University, various grants including the True Seminole grant, and support from our local community of students, families, businesses, and friends. Please check back to stay up-to-date concerning GPE events and fundraisers that will support our project. Last update March 25, 2014 |

To Our Donors
What will you do this summer? Maybe provide children with health and sanitation, or teach women English to allow opportunities to better support their family? In Nepal, a little goes a very long way. Before you donate, you can see where every dollar helps a child, or the community as a whole, in need. GPE has no overhead due to our student volunteers organizing the entire project, which means no money goes to administrative costs or anything other than what is listed in our budget. For a copy of our budget, please email us because we are completely transparent.
