The team has been in Daldale a week now and a lot has happened! We spend Sunday through Friday working in the kindergarten helping children learn the alphabet and serving as human jungle gyms. In the evenings we teach the older kids of the hostel lessons based on the theme of the week, this week being all about compassion. From quizzes and scavenger hunts to futbol games and self-defense, we’ve been busy! We even managed to squeeze in a water fight on one of our first days during one of the rain storms. The children are wonderful, kind, intelligent and generous. The hostel is as beautiful as it is lush, rolling background of Daldale’s mountains (“hills” as the locals call them). It’s hot here, there’s no denying it. But the kids make the sweltering heat worthwhile. We’re extremely excited to continue working with both the kindergarteners and the older children. This week’s lesson: Leadership!
